This post is based at Royal Cornhill Hospital Aberdeen and applications will be welcomed from people wishing to work full-time or part-time and from established Consultants who are considering a new work commitment. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a Psychiatric Consultation and Liaison service for patients aged over 65 years admitted to medical wards in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Woodend Hospital, Rosewell House and Roxburghe House care facilities, as detailed within the job outline. The candidate will also provide support and supervision to the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) Fellowship Programme covering all NHSG Mental Health teams with the programme lead, as detailed within the post description.    

The appointees are likely to be involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching and will be registered with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. They will also contribute to audit, appraisal, and governance and participate in annual job planning.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).  For more information visit 

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. 

Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).    
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
