Chair and Professor of Simulation

 RCSI seeks to appoint a new Professor and Chair of Simulation. The successful applicant will lead the RCSI SIM Centre for Simulation Education and Research. Applicants will have a proven record of accomplishment in research and education in medical or health professions simulation and innovation in a clinical skills training or research setting. We are open to considering candidates with a diverse range of backgrounds and research interests, including but not limited to human factors; psychology; psychometrics; artificial intelligence; gaming; ‘big data’ and bioengineering; alongside mainstream surgical research. Experience in a senior role in a simulation centre would be a distinct advantage. The Chair of Simulation will be an internationally respected academic and opinion leader with extensive experience in leading simulation training and education, relevant research, strong executive management experience. They will have the proven capability to lead the establishment and growth of a world-class centre for simulation education and research.

The RCSI Chair of Simulation will be a full-time, permanent appointment at the level of Professor and will report to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Alongside RCSI’s national and international reach and contacts, a Simulation Steering Committee will support the Chair in optimising the education and research assets of our degree-awarding programmes, postgraduate surgical and medical training programmes, and professional activities, to deliver the ambitions we have for this Centre. The Centre is based in central Dublin - at the heart of our historic main campus, and new simulation facilities at St Stephens Green.
