Applications are invited for a 10PA Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our clinical team and participate in the development of clinical services for older adults in Cambridgeshire.

The post will offer opportunities for working across a range of clinical settings including core Medicine for the Elderly wards and the Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly unit. A subspecialty interest in syncope is preferable. Successful candidates will be able to participate in the General Medicine (GIM) on-call rota if desired.

We currently provide specialist care as part of the Frailty Front Door Team, on a Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly unit, four ‘Core’ Medicine for the Elderly wards. We have an established rapid access service for GPs (RADAR) and a trust-wide specialist geriatric liaison team.

Main duties of the job

The post is open to applicants with geriatrics speciality training.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Geriatric and General (Internal) Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
