Job Details

The Health Board is seeking a Specialty Doctor Psychiatrist to join the North Team - covering the care of Older Adults under the direction of the two sector Consultants. This post holder will join the existing Old Age Psychiatry team for older adults covering Bridgend County Borough. The total catchment population of the Bridgend County Borough area is approx. 30,000 adults over the age of 65 years. This specialty doctor post is part of the established Old Age Psychiatry team providing psychiatric care to community and hospital inpatients. The post holder responsibilities includes provision of clinical input into mental health services for older adults in inpatient and community settings under the direction of Consultants.

The post holder will become an integral member of the Old Age Psychiatry team, providing medical input for older adults with mental health needs, across inpatient and community care settings. The community teams are based in 71 Quarella Road and inpatient provision is provided from Angelton Clinic on the Glanrhyd Hospital site. The hospital and Care Home In-reach Team is based in the Princess of Wales Hospital.

This is a permanent post, however a fixed term appointment would be considered.

Main duties of the job

Day-to-day assessment, diagnosis, formulation of management plans, and review of patients. Management of patients with mental health needs in community and inpatient settings in the Bridgend Locality, under direction of the sector Consultants. Managing patients in outpatient clinics and the monthly Lithium clinic.

Qualifications
Essential

  • M.B.B.S. or equivalent.
  • Full G.M.C registration.

Desirable

  • Relevant clinical qualification.
  • S.12(2) approval.
  • Welsh Approved Clinician approval.

Experience
Essential

  • Three years experience at CT level psychiatry.

Desirable

  • Experience of acting as s12(2) doctor or Responsible Clinician.
