University Hospitals of Leicester has a streamed Nephrology Glenfield Hospital has a national and international reputation for both clinical and basic science research in Nephrology. also has a large teaching portfolio and the post holders will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate training.
Main duties of the job
- Supervise, monitor and assist the Foundation Year (F1) in the day-to-day management of in-patients in posts with an attached F1.
- Liaise between nurses, Doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
- Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled
- Take part in rostered emergency work.
- Dictate discharge summaries.
- Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
- Teach medical students as directed.
- Co-operate with members of the personnel department when monitoring hours of work and other personnel issues.
- Attend induction in each hospital or new department
- Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave
About us
Be expected in the normal run of their duties, and within their contract and job description, to cover for occasional, brief absence of colleagues as far as it is practicable.
- Provide cover for annual study leave of colleagues, providing always that the resulting increase in duties is reasonable in the circumstances.
- In addition, they will be prepared to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances without additional remuneration. Commitments arising under these provisions are, however, exceptional and practitioners should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
- in circumstances other than those in 1. to 3. above, e.g., where cover is required for a practitioner on maternity leave or for a temporarily vacant post, the employing authority (not the practitioner) shall be responsible for the engagement of a locum tenens to undertake work which in their view must be carried out, but the practitioner shall have the responsibility of bringing the need to their notice. The employing authority shall assess the number of hours required.

Job responsibilities
There is a Postgraduate Medical Centre situated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, which has a large Lecture Theatre, Seminar Room, Laboratory and a Museum. Lectures on all topics are held regularly.
There is a weekly postgraduate clinical presentation or lecture, in addition to many other postgraduate activities.
The Leicester Royal Infirmary is situated approximately 400 yards from the main city shopping centre. It has its own staff multi-storey car park.
The Leicester General Hospital is approximately 4 miles from the main city centre and has ample car-parking facilities. It is also served by an excellent public transport service.
Glenfield Hospital is approximately 2 miles from the main city centre and also have its own car parking facilities. The hospital is also covered by the public transport service.
