MMWF is a growing PCN (primary care network) which has four surgeries. All the surgeries are within the Northampton town. We have a diverse population and having someone who can speak multiple languages will be helpful but not essential.

We are looking for a Physician to join our team of medical professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medicine, with experience in diagnosing and treating patients. The successful candidate will be able to provide comprehensive care to patients, while also maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service. The Physician will also be responsible for providing medical advice and overseeing the implementation of treatment plans.

The Physician Associate (PA) main responsibility will be to provide medical care for the presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment through to the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care, as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

Therefore, they will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients.

They will work collaboratively with the rest of the team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures. The PA will provide a holistic and clinical service, with support from GPs as required, implementing agreed management plans and following approved protocols as appropriate.

MMWF PCN consists of groups of general practices working together with a range of local providers, including across primary care, community services, social care and the voluntary sector, to enable greater provision of proactive personalised, coordinated health and social care to their local populations. They build on existing primary care services to better meet the needs of local people closer to home by enabling more proactive, personalised, coordinated and integrated health and care services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Therefore, the successful candidate must evidence the following knowledge, training and experience:
  • Postgraduate Diploma/Master in Physician Associate (formally Physician Assistant) from an accredited UK University
  • Member of Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (The Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)) until such time that the statutory regulation of PAs is achieved.
  • Valid national certification and recertification every six years as stipulated by PAMVR
  • Experience of working in General Practice
  • Minor illness/ acute care management
  • Experience in examination of adults and children
  • Advanced clinical skills and experience of using these in different situations
  • Excellent ability to make clinical decisions
  • Ability to assess, treat and diagnose adults and children
  • IT Literate/ proficient use of computer
  • Team player/ ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and other members of the team
