Consultant Physicians in General Internal Medicine and a Sub Specialty

Exciting and unique opportunities have arisen to join Mid Cheshire Hospital's expanding Division of Medicine and Emergency Care as Consultant Physicians in General Internal Medicine and a Specialty.

The Trust's new recruitment premium means that individuals choosing to come and work at MCHFT in this role will benefit from an additional 26,509 on appointment, in addition to their basic salary. This premium is in addition to relocation packages of up to 8,000 being offered by the Trust to you when you join. This payment is non-pensionable and there is a decreasing repayment schedule if you leave within four years.

The successful candidates would be dual accredited in a specialty and general internal medicine. The specialty areas we are most interested in include Care of the Elderly, Diabetes and Endocrinology and Respiratory Medicine. However, we would welcome a conversation should you be interested and have a different area of specialisation.

Proposed Interview date is 7th November 2023.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to visit the department prior to interview.

Main duties of the job

Acute Medicine

This role comes with the opportunity for the successful applicants to spend two sessions to further develop interests in other areas which may include another specialty service or alternatively medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement, clinical leadership, research or supporting our new digital agenda. The specialty services available include Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Frailty, Cardiology, Care of the Elderly.

Care of the Elderly

The team are passionate about innovation and are expanding the services currently being offered to include services such virtual frailty wards, a new frailty assessment unit and rapid response services.

Diabetes and Endocrinology

This team has a strong emphasis on partnership working and developing initiatives to support the most vulnerable members of our communities, such as in-reach care to nursing home residents.

The team are keen to pursue developing and delivering a local pump service which is currently not available to our local population without travelling out of area. There are many opportunities for development and growth within this team, especially in terms of antenatal and transitional care

Respiratory Medicine

This role also brings opportunities to work alongside oncologists and Thoracic surgeons from The Christie as well as Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Leighton Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Crewe, a pleasant railway town with a major engineering heritage it remains the home of Bentley Motors.

There are several local BHS approved riding schools, and many open water venues for water sports.
