Consultant Neurologist with an Interest in Neuromuscular Disorders

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist with interest and expertise in Neuromuscular Disorders to work at North Bristol NHS Trust in Bristol. The post is part of the South West Neuromuscular Operational Delivery Network, which covers Bristol, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Southmead Hospital is a centre of excellence for health care in the South West and is one of the largest hospital trusts in the UK. The trust's pioneering treatments and advances in care have won national and international recognition.

This post will involve the diagnosis, management and care of people living with Neuromuscular Disorders, their families, and carers. This includes a range of conditions, for example muscular dystrophies, neuropathies, CIDP and myasthenia. A range of treatment options, including genetic modifying therapies, are established. The service is multi-disciplinary, supported by Neuromuscular Care Advisers, Specialist Physiotherapists, and a Specialist Psychologist. The post holder will join the team in providing an education programme for professionals and patients.

Clinics will mainly be based in North Bristol NHS Trust, Southmead Hospital. The post will include a monthly clinic in Taunton, Musgrove Park Hospital and a monthly clinic in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The award-winning South West Neuromuscular Network is the only Neuromuscular Operational Delivery Network (ODN) in the UK and one of a growing number of ODNs in the South West. The network is funded by NHS England to provide regional services throughout the South West. This post provides a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and highly motivated, dedicated team, working within a holistic framework of a network model of care.

Our state-of-the-art hospital allows staff more flexibility, giving plenty of scope for the successful applicant to develop a range of services and the freedom to pursue their own interests. There is a relocation package available and although this is a full-time position, part time or job share roles will be considered.
