The post holder will provide clinical input to the Liaison Service and will provide expertise in the psychiatric diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with mental health problems in Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital including the emergency department.

You will have clinical responsibility for all patients referred to the service within this integrated clinical service model.

You will act under the general supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist in Liaison, and will work collaboratively with the Liaison Team Leader to ensure the delivery of appropriate care and treatment to patients for all age groups and with special responsibility for older adults.

The post is based within the liaison team in the West, and will be a member of that team. The team is based within the Hergest Unit - the mental health unit on the main hospital site.

Main duties of the job

You will provide day to day supervision of nursing staff working with younger adults, older adults as well as alcohol and substance misuse liaison staff.

The post holder will be expected to keep up to date in respect of clinical developments and will work with the Liaison Consultant Psychiatrists and, with a mutual agreement, to cover periods of annual leave and study leave.

• Full Registration with the General Medical Council
• Minimum of four years (full time or equivalent) in postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent EEA training.
• At least two years training must be in the relevant specialty or recognised equivalent training (this is defined as the successful completion of the Foundation programme, followed by either successful completion of ST1 and ST2 or CT1 and CT2 or as a FTSTA or its recognised equivalent)
