We aspire to having a workforce reflective of the communities we serve and achieving equitable outcomes for all.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

You’ll enjoy impressive scope to work in partnership with our General Manager - role modelling how effective collaboration and commitment to quality, safety and clinical governance can make a tangible difference. It’s here where your demonstrated pathology leadership expertise will have every chance to shine, as you ensure the safe and efficient delivery of our clinical laboratory service. Whether it’s inspirational leadership for our medical team, fostering excellence in practice standards, or helping shape the long-term planning strategy for our services, we expect you’ll be in your element here.

What’s more – thanks to our strong links with the University of Auckland (Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences) through the Auckland Academic Health Alliance, you will also have the opportunity to develop and lead our research strategy and participate in clinical and/or basic science research and clinical teaching.

Our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department provides tertiary and quarternary laboratory services to the greater Auckland and Northland Region and is the major referral laboratory for specialized laboratory tests in New Zealand. Test referrals originate from hospitals, community laboratories and research units located throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. We offer an extensive analytical pathology service in Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Microbiology, Virology and Immunology, National Testing Centre for Newborn Screening, Forensic Pathology, Anatomical Pathology and Diagnostic Genetics. We hold a number of contracts for the reference pathology testing for all of New Zealand. Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand’s largest public hospital as well as the largest clinical research facility. There are approximately one million patient contacts each year, including hospital and outpatient services.
