Manchester Royal Eye Hospital invites applications for a 12 months Vitreoretinal Fellowship. There are three vacancies in total, one starting in April 24, one in August 2024 and one in November 2024.
Main duties of the job
The main clinical duties of this post will involve outpatient and day case care of patients. Duties will involve outpatient clinics in vitreoretinal surgery, including acute clinics for the assessment of urgent retinal cases, and one macular treatment clinic. Regular supervised surgical sessions are timetabled each week, together with one or two fellows operating lists.
Some parts of the job plan may be flexible and finalised before commencement of employment after discussion with the successful applicant.
The post holder will be expected to give advice and assistance to members of the junior medical staff in training.
The post holder will be expected to deputise for absent colleagues.
The appointee will be expected to participate in clinical teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. There is weekly retinal unit teaching meeting. Some clinical sessions may be attended by students. There may be the opportunity to deliver lectures for a post-holder who is keen to advance his/her teaching skills.
The duties of the post are primarily service with a limited teaching commitment but interested appointees will be encouraged to participate in research.
