Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to advertise a clinical fellow role aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career but who want to take time out to develop a special interest. They would also suit doctors who just take time out to develop new skills and enhance their CVs. Our posts combine a guaranteed day a week dedicated to your chosen special interest as well as education and career development with practical patient-facing care.
We have a proven track record having developed these posts since 2013 this year sees an expansion in the number and types of clinical fellow roles we can offer.
We are able to support clinical fellows in developing a special interest in the following areas:
Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine in partnership with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service
Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Medical Education
Emergency Medicine Ultra-Sound
Sports and exercise medicine
Medical management and leadership
Research fellow

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will or may be expected to include:
Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients presenting to the ED including appropriate discharge / admission planning.
Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate
Dedicated special interest day per week
Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvement in relevant administration duties
Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities

Our posts combine a guaranteed day a week dedicated to your chosen special interest as well as education and career development with practical patient-facing care.
These posts are not recognised UK training posts. Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop.
Working within a team of dedicated and committed professionals providing high quality care and treatment in what is, when combined across the three hospitals, consistently ranked as one of the top five busiest Urgent and Emergency Medicine services in England.
These posts will be part of our cross site senior middle grade (CT3 or StR equivalent depending up on experience) rotas which is compliant with working time regulations and the junior doctors contract.
Acute care at Mid-Yorkshire is now focussed primarily on our Pinderfields Hospital site although all our doctors are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites, with support and supervision from senior colleagues.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Medical Degree from
- recognised medical school
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise - Please state GMC number
Desirable
- Progress towards or attainment of Royal College of Emergency Medicine Exams
- ATLS,ALS,APLS or PALS certification
- Higher qualification e.g.MRCEM, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Pre-registration/foundation training and appropriate experience in recognised training-grade posts relevant to EM at junior doctor level or above minimum 3 years including adequate experience in Emergency Medicine (i.e. minimum 6 months).
- Notes 1) an otherwise exceptional candidate with excellent critical care/acute care skills might be considered with only 4 months EM experience
