Applications are invited for two Substantive Consultant post based within the Neurology Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
Consultant in Paediatric Neurology – Neurovascular and Headache (8 PAs)
The primary thrust for this post is in succession planning for neurovascular services. The postholder will join and be supported by a wider team including two established paediatric neurovascular consultants. There is scope within the role to deliver specialist headache clinics and general neurology.
We are the largest paediatric neurological centre in the UK and the principal provider of specialist child neurology services, both emergency and elective, for the North Thames region and the surrounding counties. The Specialty provides a national and international service for the management of rare and complex paediatric neurology conditions.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has 368 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care.
Main duties of the job
Trust with work commitments in the Neurology service. The primary thrust for this post is in succession planning for neurovascular services. The other priorities are to meet the capacity needs of the headache service in delivering clinical and research commitments. In order to address these, this post will support neurovascular, general neurology and headache services. The post comprises 6.4 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) including on call and 1.6 PA for supporting professional activities (SPA). The post holder will as a member of the Neurology consultant team participate in the on-call duty (currently 1 in 13, 0.5 PA/week, attracts Cat A supplements ). The post holder will also participate in the attending rotas for in-patient service: acute neurology ward and neurology consultation service as specified in the job plan below.
