Applications are invited for this exciting post based in any of our national sites.  This is an opportunity to become a key member of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Donor Medical and Senior Transfusion Leadership Team, providing expert clinical advice and medical leadership in Donor and Transfusion Medicine. Key duties include making an active contribution to the safety of donors and blood donations including plasma, platelets and components. You will represent the clinical team on national committees, operational project teams and ad hoc working groups. We are looking for a medical leader with wide experience of general medical specialties or general practice. 

You will be required to participate in daytime and out-of-hours on call rotas (by telephone) for donor medicine. The Rota provision is currently under review so this may change.

NHSBT is the sole provider of blood components and organs for transplantation to the NHS as well as supplying tissues and haemopoietic stem cells for transplantation, therapeutic apheresis, and immune-haematological diagnostics.  NHSBT has a Research and Development programme in collaboration with leading academic centres. 

Induction and post CCT training in the specialist aspects of the role will be provided to candidates who can offer the essential core capabilities.
