The Trust sits at the heart of the community as the main provider of acute care to around 250,000 people in the west of Dorset. Our main site is in the county town of Dorchester near to the world-famous Jurassic Coast and other areas of outstanding natural beauty.

We are expanding our team so need to appoint an additional Stroke Consultant. This new role is part of a £2.8m investment in stroke services by the Dorset Integrated Care Board (ICB) supporting the opening of a new Hyper Acute Stroke Unit.

There are opportunities to be developed as a unique individual. A future leader, develop your quality improvement skills, research, innovation, supporting training and education or roles in integrated care.

Our stroke department provides a seven-day service for circa 530 stroke patients admitted annually from West Dorset. This has the potential to increase to around eight hundred with the outcome of a regional stroke reconfiguration programme.

The Stroke Unit is a twenty-four bedded acute unit with a fourteen bedded stroke and neuro rehabilitation facility at the Yeatman Community Hospital in North Dorset. The rehabilitation facility is led by a Consultant AHP, for whom you’ll provide clinical advice and support as well as cover for leave/illness.

If you reside outside of Dorset and join us in this role you will receive a Warm Welcome payment of £5,000 as a thank you for bringing your expertise and knowledge to our Trust in addition to the usual relocation expenses.

We are a flexible employer and although this is a WTE post, the right candidate wanting LTFTW working, or asymmetrical job plans will be welcomed to apply.
