Main duties of the job

The Neuropathologist would develop their interests in neuro-oncology , neuromuscular pathology, invasive autopsy and research. The Neuropathologist Team work alongside 13 Consultant Histopathologists an SAS doctor and 1-2 Specialist Trainee Pathologists in the Department of Cellular Pathology within a large and established Pathology Directorate providing Neuropathology, Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Non Gynaecological Cytology, Electron Microscopy and Autopsy services to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
About us

The hospital is the tertiary centre for Gynaecological, Plastics, Head and Neck, Upper GI and Urology Cancers and the Cellular Pathology Department is a specialised cancer reporting centre. Although the majority of post-mortem work is now performed by CT scan, invasive autopsies are still undertaken and it is anticipated the Neuropathologist would assist with this work.
