Job Details

Applications are invited for Consultant Anaesthetist post based at Northwick Park/St Mark's, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals, part of the London North West University Healthcare Trust.

Our priority is to appoint the best possible consultant anaesthetists to join our friendly, collegiate and hard-working department. These are primarily replacement posts. However we are also looking for candidates who will be able to bring new skills, techniques and ideas to our department. Candidates should have proven capabilities in their chosen area of expertise, either through higher training or clinical posts.

Of particular relevance to the 3 substantive posts, the Trust is a regional centre for Head and Neck/Maxillofacial surgery, gastrointestinal surgery (St Marks Hospital) and vascular surgery. The postholders will join teams providing elective and emergency anaesthetic care to these surgical specialties.

They will also become part of the group of 55 consultant anesthetists/intensivists who provide anaesthetic services for theatres and other areas of the hospital including the obstetric unit. The appointees to these vacancies will need to be willing and able to contribute to a future shared vision with colleagues across all hospitals in London

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and either, already on, or at time of interview within 6 months of eligibility to be included on, the specialist register of the GMC.

Interview date - 02nd Feb 2023

Main duties of the job

Out of hours cover is provided with a 1:10 on-call rota, which includes both first and second on-call responsibilities and provides cover for the general emergency theatre as well as obstetric services and the surgical recovery areas. The successful appointees will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.

There are acute hospital services at Central Middlesex, Ealing, Northwick Park and St Mark's Hospitals. The service provided by the Anaesthetic and Critical Care Departments across all sites has now become fully integrated, a collaboration which typifies the cross-site and collaborative culture within the Directorate.

We have a strong track record in clinical excellence, clinical research and teaching and receive very positive feedback from our rotating trainees.
