We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support the HCE in-patient workload. The Trust Doctors will be expected to work with the responsible Consultant Geriatrician to provide continuity of care, rapid assessment of presenting conditions, development of management plans and diagnoses and communicate these effectively to the patient and their family members. The post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and identify care needs for discharge. The post holders will need to demonstrate excellent communication and team-working skills, being able to liaise with nursing staff, therapists and discharge team.The Elderly Care Department has four wards - Stannon ward, Meldon Ward, Marlborough Ward and Monkswell Ward. They are fully staffed by elderly care nursing and therapy teams.

The successful candidates will be expected to take part in audit, clinical governance reviews, including morbidity and mortality meetings and participate in the departmental educational programme.

- ALS/ACLS or equivalent

- Completed pre-registration year
- Experience of basic life support and resuscitation skills
- Broad understanding of G(I)M and Acute G(I)M experience
- Competent in history taking and examination skills
- Willing to seek timely assistance from senior colleagues when appropriate
- Good oral and written presentation skills
- Able to establish good working relationships with other members of the multidisciplinary team
- Sets realistic goals and deadlines
- Full registration with the GMC
- Ability to operate Take and Cover rota
- Studying towards MRCP Part 1 of higher qualification.
- Previous experience of a six-month post in the NHS
- Wide medical experience Familiarity with the NHS
