Clinical Fellow - ST3+ level in Urology

Applications are invited to apply for a Clinical Fellow ST3+ level post in Urology, based at Whipps Cross Hospital. Due to a current vacancy, this post is to start asap. This post is a is a ST3+ level post supporting and aiding the clinical ward work and the Out-Patient workload of the Department. There will be an opportunity to attend the Urology operating theatre sessions. A pay banding supplement is payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level. The rota currently is 1 in 8. This is under review and may be subject to change.

Whilst this post has no educational approval it would suit doctors who wish to pursue a career in urology.

Job description
Job responsibilities

The post is full time.

The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in the clinical work of the Department, providing high standards of care for both in-patients and outpatients. The duties of the post will support both the Out-Patient activities and in-patient care of patients of the Unit in line with SAC directives regulating SpR training activities and the duties of the posts might change from time to time to reflect those needs.

The Specialty Registrar role include:
  • Supporting the Foundation School trainees
  • Involvement in Out Patient Clinics
  • Involvement in the operating lists
  • On call for the management of urological emergencies as part of the Middle Grade Registrar of the Week Rota and out of hours rota. (Out of hours patients are seen initially by the general surgical SHO on-call and referred to the middle grade urology cover who is on-call from home).

There will be the opportunity for experience in:
  • urological surgery,
  • trans-rectal / trans-perineal prostate biopsy,
  • urodynamics
  • flexible endoscopy
