Applications are invited for the substantive position of Consultant in Otolaryngology (ENT) Surgeon. This appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 Consultant Contract (England).

The successful candidate will be an additional member of a dynamic team of three existing Consultant Surgeons in Otolaryngology based at Bedford & two visiting Consultants from Luton & Dunstable.

The ENT department provides a general Rhinology, Laryngology, Otology and Diagnostic Head and Neck Service and is located in a dedicated area that also houses the Audiology service, which is provided by a committed team of technicians led by an Audiological scientist. There are a number of established specialist clinics including Neck Lump clinic, Joint Clinic, Voice clinic and Rhinology clinic. A specialist Otology Clinic and Balance service is being developed. There are regular Thyroid, Head & Neck and Joint OMF/ENT Xray MDT meetings.
Main duties of the job

This is a full time (10PA) post and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated clinician within a developing and growing service. The post is primarily based at Bedford Hospital with one day per week at Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

The post is primarily based at Bedford Hospital and is a replacement post due to retirement.

The on-call commitment is 1:4 week days covering Bedford Hospital with prospective cover for annual and study leave. Weekend on-call is 1:10 covering both Bedford and the larger ENT unit at Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
