We are recruiting for a Consultant in Plastic Surgery who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery provides a general plastic surgery service to a sub-regional catchment population comprising of a large area of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The workload of the department is approximately 70% elective surgery and 30% emergency surgery.
We wish to appoint a substantive Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a special interest in Skin Cancer and Trunk/Perineum Reconstruction including Trauma. In addition, any other subspecialist interest which the successful candidate wishes to develop will be considered. This full time post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) with an on-call commitment.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity within the Plastic Surgery department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post holder will be expected to cover clinical sessions specified in the provisional job plan, as attached. They will be expected to provide general plastic surgery service and will be required to have a sub-specialist interest aligned with service needs as above.
The post holder will provide a General plastic surgery service including Skin cancer and Trunk/Perineum Reconstruction (including microsurgery) and Trauma as well as on call service. They will also have an active participation in continuing medical education.
The Trust has a comprehensive programme of leadership mentoring available for newly qualified Consultants. Opportunities are also available to other Consultant appointees to play an active part in the programme.

- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- FRCS (Plast) or qualification of an equivalent level
- Skin cancer or Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship or similar experience
