This is an excellent opportunity within the Ophthalmology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Sub-Regional Eye Unit consists of outpatient facilities at three sites Lister Treatment Centre (LTC), New QEII Hospital and Hertford County Hospital, as well as a theatre complex fully equipped with state of the art equipment for ophthalmic surgery and an Urgent Eye Clinic based at the LTC.
Main duties of the job
This is a substantive appointment, based predominantly at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) which could be modified for a candidate preferring to less than full time. Applications from those wishing to work part-time or job share are actively encouraged.
The post holder will hold ophthalmological examinations, investigations and treatments of patients referred from Accident service, General Medical Practitioners and other departments of the hospital.
The post holder will manage outpatient clinics, laser clinic sessions and will write letters, and communicate with General Medical Practitioners and other medical, nursing and paramedical staff as required

Qualifications / Training
Essential
- Shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- FRCOphth/MRCP or qualification of an equivalent level

- Postgraduate academic degree
