Barnet PCN 6 comprises of 8 separate Member GP Practices working together to provide excellent patient care, to a population of just over 51,000.
PCN 6 has a fantastic opportunity for an Physician Associate (PA) to join their team on a full-time basis or part time will be considered. If you are a well organised person who thrives on a busy working environment where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.
There is also an opportunity to work as a PA Lead for the PCN for applicants with the appropriate level of experience. Please indicate in your application if you are applying for the PA lead role as well.

Main duties of the job
A a Physician Associate (PA) working as part of the primary care team, the post holder will provide highly specialist advice for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. Demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients being treated. Demonstrate critical thinking in the decision-making process.
Under the supervision of a GP, they will work collaboratively as part of the primary care team and provide highly specialist advice to meet the needs of patients, and their relatives/carers, while at all times working within the agreed policies and procedures supporting the way care is provided. Authority to assess and treat will be granted in line with demonstrated skills and competencies.
At no time will the post-holder work outside the limits of authority granted. Mentorship and supervision will be provided by a designated GP at all times.

Barnet Federated GPs CIC (BFG) is a not for profit organisation, putting GPs and healthcare professionals at the forefront of Primary Healthcare provision in Barnet.
The Federation is building a large clinical and non clinical team who will work as one in developing Primary Care Services in Barnet for its approximate 425,000 patients and will support it Primary Care Networks.

Job responsibilities
To deliver a high standard of patient care using advanced autonomous clinical skills with in-depth theoretical knowledge and evidence based practice working under the supervision of a GP
To manage a clinical caseload and deal with presenting patients needs in a primary care setting
To provide clinical leadership where appropriate within the practice and support other members of the team to develop and maintain clinical skills appropriate to your role and expertise.
Provide first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, utilising history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills to establish a working diagnosis and management plan working in partnership with patients
Participate in continuing professional development opportunities to keep up-to-date with evidence-based knowledge and competence in all aspects of the role to meet clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and a Personal Development Plan (PDP) utilising a reflective approach to practice

Qualifications
Essential
- Postgraduate Diploma / masters in Physician Associate Studies from an accredited UK University
- Bachelors degree in Life Science/Biomedical/Nursing or Allied Health Science
- Member of Faculty of Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)
- Valid national certification and recertification every six years stipulated by PAMVR
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development activities
Desirable
- Intermediate or Advanced Life Support
- Member of Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development activities
- Independent Prescriber
Experience

- Experience of conducting clinical audit
- Evidence of continual learning and development
