Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. DOVS, always “in search of excellence”, is looking for local and overseas candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving clinical ophthalmology, ophthalmic investigations, public education, out-reach and specific disease entities such as children eye diseases, autoimmune eye diseases, ocular surface diseases, refractive errors, ocular cancers, dry eye disease, thyroid eye diseases, glaucoma, retina diseases and genetic eye diseases.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, biostatistics or relevant subject area; (ii) keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences; (iii) two or more years of research experience involving artificial intelligence, data science, big data analytics or software engineering; and (iv) scientific research management experience. Proven research experience with good track record in medical image data analysis and relevant experience in successful funding application are advantages.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) conducting, coordinating and supervising research projects; (b) supervising research students and staff; (c) conducting and supervising data processing, data analysis, software design and development in research projects; (d) administrative tasks related to research; and (e) performing other departmental tasks as assigned.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
