General Practitioner

We are looking for a fully qualified general practitioner to join our vibrant rural practice in the heart of Southland, New Zealand. 

Our practice serves a population of around 13,000 people in the Gore District, a predominantly farming community in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are located only a short distance from world-renowned attractions such as Queenstown, Fiordland National Park and the Catlins Coast, with unrivalled access to outdoor activities such as mountain biking, fishing, hiking and skiing. The town of Gore itself is family friendly and welcoming, with a wide range of excellent amenities and local schools.

Our team comprises nine GPs (including three GP directors), a dedicated team of nurses, clinical support staff, Practice Manager and Financial Manager. We are an accredited teaching practice, regularly hosting medical and nursing students, as well as GP registrars. We have robust peer review programmes for both doctors and nurses, with innovation and academic endeavour strongly encouraged.

The practice offers a supportive environment for career progression and the development of special interest areas. After-hours requirements are minimal and shared with our neighbouring GP practice. 

For the successful candidate, we offer competitive remuneration, 15 minute appointments with a maximum of 10-12 patients/session, assistance with relocation/housing and help with the Medical Council registration process. Candidates need to be from countries having health systems comparable to New Zealand.
