There is an expanse of new housing developments and top-rated schools across the county. We are located centrally to the heart of England with easy access to Birmingham, Gloucester, Cheltenham and good transport links to London and the North. The beautiful city of Worcester sits on the banks of the River Severn and is close to the scenic Malvern Hills.

We are seeking in interventional radiologist to expand our interventional services that will include support for a new development in interventional radiology at the Worcestershire site which includes a planned configuration for stroke and acute cardiac services in due course. This will include a new day-case facility for both vascular and non-vascular intervention. Recent investment has seen the replacement of 4 CT scanners and a new MRI scanner at Kidderminster with plans for the installation of a CT scanner in a planned ED reconfiguration. A Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) has been built at the Kidderminster site with plans to expand the number of MRI scanners in the Trust in the near future. You will work closely within a supportive team with expanding interests in intervention and new services being planned including interventional oncology services.

The post attracts 10 programmed activities (10 PA’s) initially with applications encouraged for full or part-time applicants. The posts are county-wide and based at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Alexandra Hospital sites with provision of interventional services on both acute sites. Interventional on call is 1 in 6 weekends including vascular reporting. Home reporting is available for cross-sectional imaging reporting and PACS access for on call. An interest in teaching and training is also welcomed with IR trainees from the West Midlands Deanery. Strong educational partnerships and teaching links exist with Warwick Medical School and University of Birmingham. Postgraduate training for West Midlands Deanery radiology trainees is welcomed.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration with a License to practice and be eligible for inclusion on to the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. This post is a great opportunity to join us at an exciting time. We are looking for aspirational, committed individuals to join our organisation and new colleagues can look forward to a future of opportunities and support.

Please note that although the Job Description states 1.5 SPA for new consultants moving down to 1 SPA after the first year, this is now incorrect and current trust guidance is for all consultants to receive 2PA SPA to allow full participation in  educational, academic, governance and leadership activities.
