NHS Tayside are seeking a committed, innovative and forward-thinking Salaried GP with a special interest in drug use and harm reduction. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our Dundee HSCP team to explore the art of the possible as we redesign the primary care drug use pathway. This is a unique opportunity to work for up to 20 hours on the redesign together with working 20 hours at Lochee Medical Practice, we would consider reduced overall hours whilst aiming for an even workload balance between the two roles.
The road to reducing drug related deaths is rocky and twisting but is one we must persevere on if we are to go any way towards improving the lives of those with substance use challenges. Are you passionate about reducing drug deaths and drug harm and exploring new ways of working through test of change cycles? Would you like to lead on the developing services in Dundee to deliver the Substance Use Services within Primary Care (Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) 7 standards) and engage with wider services in Dundee to reduce drug deaths and drug harm?
Can you:
- Work to develop a local GP network, sharing best practice and support colleagues. Oversee a small team, including Third Sector colleagues, who will offer psychosocial interventions Support holistic medicine, encouraging those with drug use to have physical health checks and tests
The role is primarily based in our purpose built health centre in the heart of the Lochee community. You will work as a key member of the GP team & will maintain the core values of general practice to provide safe, person centred care. The practice is open 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and we are keen to support a work life balance, and are therefore open to flexible working arrangements.
Developing and nurturing our GP workforce is a priority for us in Tayside This post offers (pro rata) the equivalent of 33 days annual leave, in addition to 10 days study leave per annum (with £1,000/year study budget for 3 years). This role also includes the opportunity to have study time and funding to complete the RCGP Management of Drug Misuse Levels 1 (mandatory) and 2.
You must be registered with the GMC, hold a licence to practice and be eligible to be on the Performers List.
