We are seeking a Consultant Physician to join us in delivering high quality medicine to older people in Fife; working within a very enthusiastic department, which is fully integrated with acute and general medicine. This post will allow our department to continue to provide ongoing care in our acute services, our community hospitals, Hospital at Home Teams and Assessment and Rehabilitation Centres (ARC). We would welcome all applicants, but particularly welcome a subspecialty interest in Community Geriatrics and Hospital at Home and rehabilitation or Parkinson’s Disease. Applicants will participate in weekday and weekend acute medical receiving with attracts 2 PAs of this role. 

We also continue to work in conjunction with our colleagues in Health and Social Care to develop community services that aim to recognise frailty and to join up care services and management within the pre hospital environment. You will be expected to fulfil an accepted clinical role as a consultant in the specialty and play an active part in the day to day management of the service as well as support the wider service objectives of NHS Fife in regards to the care of patients with complex frailty.

We are seeking a Consultant Stroke Physician to join us in delivering high quality medicine to Stroke patients in Fife.  You will join a team of enthusiastic friendly people with strong links to the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, the South East Stroke network & NHS Tayside.  We are embarking on an exciting time in Fife, when we are developing our Mechanical Thrombectomy and Spasticity services. There may be an opportunity to contribute to the out of hours thrombectomy service within SE Scotland.  Successful candidates would be welcome to contribute to service development in these areas and encouraged to pursue streams of their own.   

Stroke sits in the Medicine of the Elderly Department within the Emergency Care Directorate.  The current Stroke Physicians contribute to general medicine of the elderly wards & clinics and specialist services such as Movement Disorders, Hospital at Home and front door Frailty Service.  There are other potential opportunities in existing services such as Orthogeriatrics that interested candidates with Medicine of the Elderly credentials could consider.
