Job Details
Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.
This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a group of dynamic Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons in providing a wide range of elective orthopaedic services and trauma services.
There will be a 1:16 on-call commitment therefore a demonstrable and active commitment to the Management of Trauma.
Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working
On-call duties are currently shared with 16 other colleagues on a 1:16 Rota, currently assessed as 1 PA.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10 PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service.

A requirement for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, with an interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Revision surgery has arisen within The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This post represents an exciting opportunity to join a group of dynamic Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons in providing a wide range of elective orthopaedic services and trauma services to the population of approximately 400,000 in the Wakefield and Kirklees area of Yorkshire.
There will be a 1:16 on-call commitment therefore a demonstrable and active commitment to the Management of Trauma.
The post is predominantly lower limb arthroplasty and revision surgery and candidates are expected to be fellowship trained in this sub-speciality.
The post holders will work closely with 16 colleagues which includes 4 revision arthroplasty surgeons.

Qualifications
Essential
- Medical Degree from recognised medical school
- FRCS Trauma & Orth or equivalent
Desirable
- Formal teaching qualification
- Audit or Case Presentations
- ATLS provider (current)
GMC Registration
Essential
- Please state GMC number
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent)
Experience
Essential
- Speciality Fellowship in Lower limb arthroplasty and Revision Surgery
Desirable
- Evidence of clinical leadership
- Computer literate
- Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
