Job Details
These posts are aimed at Postgraduate Doctors of all training grades from post FY2 up to senior level Doctors in Training who wish to strengthen their educational credentials and gain additional teaching experience. Every effort will be made to tailor each post to their overall clinical and career needs.
Main duties of the job
These posts are funded by UHCW NHS Trust. Their purpose is to enhance the teaching of medical students and develop a cadre of enthusiasts in education more generally. This may be viewed as two aspects educational responsibilities and clinical responsibilities
Educational Responsibilities
Appointees will be expected to contribute to the following areas:
- Supporting the teaching within Phase 3 Specialty Clinical Placements (Musculoskeletal, Child Health, Women's Health, Care of Surgical Patient and Care of Medical Patient) within individual fellow's specialty areas.
- Supporting clinical simulation in delivering acute block simulation and opportunities in Postgraduate simulation training.
- Delivering regular bedside teaching sessions.
- Assorted other educational activities which may vary according to the needs of the service.
50/50 Teaching Fellow:
Fellows will spend 50% of their time working within their chosen specialty. Clinical time will be within the normal working day, with no commitment to on-call working (this is reflected in the salary). Organising suitable clinical positions forms part of the recruitment process. Opportunity for clinical on-call working may be negotiated locally after appointment when shifts are deemed to have no impact on the day-time working pattern.
This is not a training post and out of program permission will need to be obtained for those currently in training posts.
