The paediatric department are looking to recruit to 2 Senior Clinical Teaching Fellows to join their department on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
We are delighted to offer these exciting posts that will enable the appointee (s) to gain invaluable teaching experience. These posts are being created to nurture our vision of improving our successful undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes. This post will offer opportunities for candidates to gain practical experience of delivering teaching sessions and learn latest evidence based medical education practices.
The Clinical Teaching fellow post is based at Morriston Hospital. Paediatric Inpatient services in Swansea are on the Morriston Hospital site.Day time duties will involve delivery and planning of undergraduate and post graduate education.
You will also be required to participate in a 1:10 rota with prospective cover.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will benefit from access to resources and support from the medical school and will be encouraged to undertake a formal postgraduate qualification in medical education, for which courses are offered by Swansea University. Study leave will be readily granted for this activity
This post is suitable for doctors who wish to gain formal teaching experience in a department that works closely with Swansea University Medical School. The post is a full time appointment, but applications from doctors wishing to work on a part-time basis will also be welcomed.
This is a fixed-term post for 12 months (with potential to extend subject to funding).
Travelling between Hospital/Clinic sites may be required to undertake duties.In exceptional circumstances it may also be necessary to undertake duties at other locations with the Health Board.
You will be expected to deputise for absent colleagues and in exceptional, unforeseen circumstances may have to perform additional duties to ensure the safe running of the department. Where such duties take place outside your normal contracted duties, you will receive either an equivalent off duty period or will be remunerated appropriately.

Our Medical and Dental Education Centres provide postgraduate, undergraduate, general entry medicine and physician associate teaching for medical staff and students, as well as providing facilities for all areas of multi-disciplinary education including Nursing & Corporate training.
Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around 1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.

- Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice
- Knowledge of Child Safeguarding procedures and UK practices - level 3 or equivalent

- Academic Excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc)
Experience

- UK clinical registrar experience in relevant specialty or equivalent
- Demonstrable knowledge of research and clinical governance
- Demonstrable knowledge of good clinical practice criteria
- Demonstrated skills in medical education

- Broad understanding of principles of education involving medical students and doctors.
