Job Details

Applications are invited for this substantive role, which offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to relocate to Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands and join a committed multi-disciplinary team.

This is a replacement post in a department of three Consultants. Applications are invited for a General Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Spinal Surgery. It will also be necessary for the successful applicant to have experience in managing common trauma patients. We are planning to appoint a 4th consultant in 2023. We have a well-established link with the spinal team from Taunton who provide us with significant spinal service support, including Island visits and surgery for scoliosis and complex patients.

The successful applicant must demonstrate a subspecialty in Spinal Surgery and general experience in trauma.

Jersey, the most southerly of the Channel Islands, is 9 miles by 5 miles situated 14 miles off the coast of France. Renowned as the sunniest spot in the British Isles, tourists swell the population from 100,000 to 120,000 in the summer months. The island's 100 square kilometres of scenic countryside are encircled by soaring cliffs and 40 km of sandy beaches - exposed directly to the Atlantic breakers and home to a vibrant surfing community. Outdoor sporting opportunities on land, surf, sea and in the air abound.

The Island's 450 miles of mostly quiet country roads & cycle routes are thoroughfares for both the famous local Jersey cows and regular national motor sport events & rallies; there are also several excellent golf courses. The island also boasts an enviable programme of international arts, music festivals and entertainments. Whether watching the sun set into the sea over a beach barbecue, dining out on award-winning international cuisine served up by Michelin-starred restaurants or club & bar hopping in the town centre is the end to your perfect day, Jersey has the lifestyle & the work environment you're looking for and only 40 minutes flying time to London. A sophisticated finance centre, the Island maintains frequent transportation links to all major cities in the UK and has a maximum tax rate of 22%. The standard of education in the Island’s schools is excellent.
