DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This new post will involve responsibility for the care of patients with Lung cancer and non-melanoma skin cancer within both UHS and HHFT. The expectation is that this will involve 2 days per week in Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (BNHH), and three days in Southampton (UHS). The Lung component will involve joining a group of 4 clinical oncologists at UHS and include involvement in the Lung SABR service. The role will provide the sole clinical oncology input to the Lung MDTs held at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) Winchester, and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (BNHH), and work alongside Dr Remer, Medical Oncologist in the HHFT Lung Cancer service. An important component of the post will be the development and leadership of a rapid access, one stop palliative treatment clinic at BNHH to provide radiotherapy for patients in mid and north Hampshire. An additional focus will be non-melanoma skin cancer management: joining 2 clinical oncologists managing patients at UHS and be the sole provider for HHFT based patients. There will also be a contribution to the acute oncology service in BNHH.

The post holder will participate in the Southampton Clinical Oncology on call rota. This provides evening / night time telephone advice during the week and ward rounds on Saturday and Sunday with a frequency of approximately 1:16
