Job Details
This is a fantastic opportunity within the Colorectal Surgery department at University Hospital of Wales for the successful candidate to gain experience of working in a busy general surgery department. The successful candidate will have opportunities to further their surgical knowledge through exposure to clinics, operating lists, ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and formal teaching. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings.
Main duties of the job
The clinical fellow will help the surgical teams in managing both elective and emergency patients. They will work alongside foundation doctors, specialty trainees and clinical fellows in managing patients from the time of their admission, throughout their treatment, to the time of their discharge. Patients will need to be seen on daily ward rounds. The post holder will work across sites and will have ample opportunity to gain experience of colorectal surgery. There is a 1:14 on- call rota commitment with this post. The post holder will be required to support the foundation, core and junior fellow doctors and liaise with the registrars regarding patient care. We would encourage regular audit/teaching and support career development.
