This is a full-time consultant appointment within a very busy Oral Health department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
This is a full-time consultant appointment within a very busy Oral Health department. The appointee will work with other Consultants in Orthodontics as well as Consultants in OMFS (Orthognathic), Plastic Surgery (Cleft) and Restorative Dentistry (Hypodontia) providing multidisciplinary care. The appointee will help the department achieve the waiting time targets and referral to treatment time targets. The candidate must have an interest in treatment of Facial Deformity and Cleft Lip and Palate.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provides Orthodontic and Oral and Maxillofacial services across Norfolk through close links with adjacent trusts Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn and The James Paget hospital on the east coast. The catchment area covers a population of 1.4 million people and also includes Ipswich Hospital who merged with Colchester hospital to form the East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). This post be based at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with general clinics being performed there. At present the Orthodontic Service covers patients from the Norfolk and Norwich and James Paget Hospital and has the potential to expand its remit further. There is full engagement from the wider consultant body, specifically the Head and Neck and Oral Health Consultant team .

Qualifications

- Entry on GDC Specialist Register.
- MFDS or equivalent.
- CCST in Orthodontics or equivalent.
- M. Orth or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a SAC approved 2-year minimum training programme in a Fixed Term Training Appointment (FTTA) in Orthodontics or within six months of completion, or equivalent, which follows on from the pre CCST training period of 3 years.
- ISFE in or within 6 months
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via; CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) CESR or European Community Rights An appropriate higher qualification

- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining CCST in Orthodontics.
- Ability to manage complex orthodontic problems.
- Experience in the use of a full range of orthodontic treatment techniques.

- Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
