The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) Foundation Trust are delighted to announce several full-time rotational substantive posts for Physician Associates (PAs) across the Medical Division. You will be joining this ever-growing profession in one of the largest hospitals in East Anglia where you will be able to develop your clinical skills and knowledge whilst delivering high quality healthcare to our patients.
The posts will initially focus around medical specialties, rotating every 6 months for two years, with possible opportunities to join surgical specialties if so desired. Towards the end of the rotation, there will be further discussions around options to establish yourself in a chosen specialty.
This opening is ideal for newly qualified PAs seeking to be part of a team of committed individuals as well as experienced PAs currently in primary or secondary care posts who are in search for another rewarding challenge and an opportunity to thrive in a different environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of patients alongside the support of your named supervising consultant. Additionally, you will support other services as needed for patient flow within the Medicine Division, as well as contributing to decision making for patients being admitted, transferred or discharged.
The post holder will perform physical examinations, order appropriate investigation, interpret finding and formulate a list of differential diagnosis. Procedures you may be required to perform include, but are not limited to, venepuncture, cannulation, ECG and urethral catheterisation.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining your own CPD requirements in accordance with your registration with the PAMVR and this includes contributing to the clinical governance agenda within the specialty, participating in clinical audit and research activities, keeping up to date with current guidelines and maintaining best practice.
Successful candidates will be offering their unique skill mix, imparting their valuable knowledge, and representing the PA profession in our Trust as ambassadors. We are looking for inspirational individuals who are enthusiastic in maintaining a high standard of care and share our values.
