Job Details
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Fellow for 12 months, reporting to the CMO and working closely with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and the Trust Lead Consultant for Research. The fellow will have sufficient seniority and relevant experience that will enable them to support the development of a series of placements and rotations designed to train and develop doctors to become Enhance practitioners.
The post holder will have one clinical session per week (annualised) to support the maintenance of their clinical skills within their specialty and they will be allocated an Educational supervisor to support this work. In addition, time and funding will be allocated within the job plan to allow the Fellow to undertake a medical education qualification at Warwick Medical School (from PG Cert to a Masters depending on completion of previous studies). Finally, there will be time in the job plan to undertake both undergraduate and post graduate teaching and training and undertake related research and project work leading to publications and conference attendance. All such work will be supervised with the aim of enabling the successful applicant to enhance their portfolio with an impressive range of evidence of leadership, innovation, teaching skills and related publications.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- Work with the DME to support the development of the programme with the Enhance (Generalist School)
- Help to develop a programme which supports trainees to understand and successfully support the complex health needs of the population they serve
- Help to establish close working relationships with other Enhance (Generalist School) trailblazer sites
- Act as an ambassador for the programme by promoting it at relevant events and with relevant groups
- Attend conferences and publish papers on evaluations of the programme implementation and it's impact on healthcare and it's ability to address the social health care needs that it aims to support
- Undertake a clinical session per week (annualised) designed to maintain and further develop their clinical expertise.
- Have the opportunity to undertake a PG Cert/Diploma/Masters in Medical Education or similar, given the associated funding and study leave
- Undertake programmed teaching of the Warwick Medical school students and junior trainee, helping to develop their medical education experience and portfolio
- Will work with the DME and the Trust Director for Research to ensure that the evaluations of the introduction of the Enhance (Generalist School) programme are rigorous and worthy of peer review publication. Thus ensuring the post holder enhances their publication CV.
