Job Details

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) are looking for ambitious middle grade Doctors who are committed to furthering their career by obtaining entry onto the GMC Specialist Register via the CESR route.

We have Specialty Doctor posts available which will support CESR pathways in Acute Medicine and General Internal Medicine.

Main duties of the job

These new posts have been developed with the ultimate aim of supporting Consultant recruitment in a number of specialties across the Trust. The posts will allow Doctors with existing experience in the specialty the opportunity to work as a Specialty Doctor whilst being supported to develop the necessary competencies and experience to enable them to submit a CESR application in the relevant specialty. The expectation is that applicants will have submitted their application to the GMC whilst in this role. Successful candidates would then be supported to begin their Consultant career here at Mid-Cheshire.

You will have the chance to train and work towards CESR registration in supportive departments with highly engaged Consultant Supervisors. MCHFT has a good track record in supporting Doctors through CESR applications and has a growing body of Consultants who have been through the CESR application process themselves whilst working at the Trust.

The Trust is committed to ensuring that the CESR Specialty Doctors are well supported during these posts. The Trust has a Lead CESR Clinician who will provide support and guidance to individual Doctors on this pathway. Each Doctor will also receive a specific departmental clinical supervisor with experience of the CESR process. In addition, these posts attract an enhanced study leave budget and the Trust has also committed to paying the GMC CESR registration fees for successful applicants.

The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its 'Be Safe Be EquiPPEd' campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE.
