We are looking to recruit a LAS ST4+ in the department of Acute Psychiatry Doctor based at Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea. This is a fixed term post from 1st February 2023 to 1st August 2023. The successful candidates will participate on the 2nd on non resident on call rota.
Swansea Bay University Health Board provides a broad range of community and inpatient services. The Health Board is one of the largest in Wales and the UK. The Mental Health Directorate is responsible for providing Adult Mental Health Services, Older People Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, Forensic Psychiatry and Rehabilitation & Recovery Services.
Main duties of the job
Based in the Acute Psychiatry wards in Cefn Coed, the successful candidate will be working together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, SAS & Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, undertaking physical assessment and history taking of patients and provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols and Patient Group Directions.
Although this postis not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.
Our Medical and Dental Education Centres provide postgraduate, undergraduate, general entry medicine and physician associate teaching for medical staff and students, as well as providing facilities for all areas of multi-disciplinary education including Nursing & Corporate training. Each Centre is managed by a dedicated team. Working collaboratively, the Medical & Dental Education Teams ensure a high standard of Medical & Dental Education is provided across Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Other specialist services provided by the health board included cleft lip and palate, renal, fertility and bariatric surgery. Forensic mental health services are provided to a wider community which extends across the whole of South Wales.
The health board has an excellent reputation for research and innovation, with excellent links with Swansea University.
