Are you a passionate specialist Haematology Consultant with a desire for best practice, carrying out complex procedures and building relationships with renowned medical professionals?

 

We are actively recruiting for a Lead Specialist clinician “Resident Consultant” to be our ward based clinical expert, our 'go-to' person for our Private Consultants and Specialist nurses, and support to strengthen our medical team structure.

 

Responsible for ensuring our junior employed doctors are always delivering high quality care, teaching and carrying out complex procedures.

 

  • Title: Resident Consultant Location – HCA Joint Ventures – UCH, London Contract Type – Permanent, Full-Time / Flexible working pattern Salary £92,766 - £109,633 FTE (dependent on skillset & years of experience)

 

This role is part of a full-time job share and will be based at HCA Healthcare UK facilities within University College Hospital NHS FT. HCA UK at University College Hospital is a dedicated private unit offering expert care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.

 

The role will have the opportunity to work directly with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a world-leading clinical trials facility specialising in the development of new therapies and precision medication for cancer patients. As the research arm of HCA's global cancer institute, SCRI is the first trials unit outside of the NHS that has the ability to offer new anti-cancer drugs in clinical trials.

 

This role is to supplement our existing team and will encompass the following areas:
Clinical expertise
Junior doctors’ supervision and education 
Service development including clinical governance, audit and research

 

•    Provide professional leadership, assume continuing responsibility for the clinical service and provide clinical expertise in the daily running of the unit and clinical care delivered to all patients. Responsible clinically to the patients named private practicing Consultant
•    A role model Clinical Expert, perform clinical procedures such as bone marrow aspirate and trephine and the administration of Intrathecal chemotherapy.
•    Prescribe chemotherapy as per relevant clinical protocol.
•    Co-ordinate the junior medical team to ensure continuity in patient care to enhance patient experience.
•    Promote and lead on relevant research projects on the unit and with SCRI. Publication of case reports in peer review journals is encouraged under the supervision of the Medical Director.

 

 

Skills and Experience required 
Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) 
On the specialist register, recognised at Consultant level to practice in the UK
Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in haematology.
Experience of supervising and teaching trainee physicians 
Passionate about Haematology and Oncology Services, able to consistently strive for excellence through audit and research.   
Role Model, able to lead a team through effective communication skills and influencing teaching skills.
