Welcome to Grampian
Aberdeen is one of the world’s major centres for the oil and gas industry and one of the most successful and prosperous regions of the UK. Oil has not changed the underlying character of the area, and with its unique combination of rural and urban environments, superb transport links and friendly, welcoming people, we can promise you that Grampian, and in particular NHS Grampian, will provide an excellent living environment.
Please take your time and read through the following to learn more about us, be astounded by the benefits available and apply for the many excellent employment opportunities we have on offer. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you success in your applications.
About NHS Grampian
NHS Grampian, which is one of the 14 Regional Health Boards in Scotland, provides healthcare services to the North-East of the country, covering the local government areas administered by Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Morayshire Councils. We employ around 14,500 staff who deliver our services to half a million people spread across 3,000 square miles of city, town, village and rural communities. We have extremely close links to the University of Aberdeen (with its internationally renowned Medical School and new Dental School) and The Robert Gordon University. These close links have made us a centre of pioneering medical research in a number of fields.
Aberdeen, as a major Scottish city, is where most of our hospitals are located. Elgin in Moray, is the site of Dr Gray’s and the principal general hospital in the west of Grampian. In addition, there are a further 14 community hospitals, situated in each of the main towns.
As an employer, we take great care to ensure that all staff have a safe, happy and professional environment
in which to work. Clear policies, covering everything from Dignity at Work to Leave for Domestic, Personal and Family reasons - as well as a comprehensive Occupational Health Service - give our staff confidence and security. We are a listening, caring and people-focused organisation. As a diverse employer, we are welcoming and our employment practices are both flexible and family-friendly. In our approach we aim to be innovative and professional. We are proud of our heritage, proud of our area, history and traditions, and proud of the service we provide to the people of North-East Scotland.
Working with us
At NHS Grampian we have thousands of dedicated staff, all striving to provide the highest quality of healthcare, including almost every major medical specialty, to the population of North-East Scotland.
NHS Grampian are extremely proud of all of them, and of their unique contribution to the work we do every hour of every day of the year. So, as you’ve probably gathered, in addition to your expertise, appropriate qualifications and the experience necessary for each post we advertise, we also look for commitment, friendliness and enthusiasm in our employees. People matter at NHS Grampian and we welcome applications from every sector of the community.
One of the greatest pleasures of living and working here in the North-East of Scotland is very different from the rest of the country. There is a charming balance between the cosmopolitan, internationally recognised oil capital that is Aberdeen, memorably described as a city with the culture of a village, and the rural, relaxed, outdoor lifestyle of the coastal and inland towns of Aberdeenshire and Moray.
