POST: 1 X CLINICAL FELLOW IN RESPIRATORY

BASE: BANGOR HOSPITAL, NORTH WALES.

The Health Board wishes to appoint 1 x fixed term Clinical Fellow to join the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) which is the largest Health Board in Wales.

This post will be located at Bangor Hospital.

This post will be available from the 3rd August 2022 and are based in a well-supported environment within a friendly rural DGH, covering a rural area the size of Greater London. There are unique challenges in delivering high quality health care to this diverse population and we are seeking a highly motivated team player to come and join a dynamic team of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

This posts will operate at the middle grade level and contribute to the medical on-call rota, currently a 1 in 11 attracting a 1B banding ( 40% ) pay supplement.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practise.

This posts do not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and are not recognised for training but appropriate educational supervision will be provided.

In addition to ward cover, successful applicants will have access to outpatient clinics and endoscopy lists.

Job description
Job responsibilities

2.1 Your Consultant supervisor would be the Lead Clinician in Respiratory.

2.2 You would be expected to contribute to clinical and educational activities within the directorate as determined by the consultant on your team and provide a high quality service to the local population including an emergency on-call commitment.

2.3 The current expected on call Rota is 1:11. You would be resident on call. At time of writing Consultant Physicians are not resident on call overnight. You will be required to cover for your colleagues' periods of leave.

2.4 To assist with nominated consultants in the supervision and teaching of junior trainees.

2.5 To contribute, to local clinical governance activities including clinical audit and clinical risk initiatives.

2.6 You will be required to co-operate with local management in the efficient running of services and expected to share with all colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

2.7 Subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service you will be expected to observe policies and procedures of the Health Board, drawn up in consultation with the profession where they involve clinical matters.

2.8 You will be expected to pursue local and national employment and personnel policies and procedures in the management of employees of the Health Board

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

  • MB ChB
  • MRCP/ equivalent
  • Possession of NTN in Respiratory Medicine

Desirable

  • Higher degree/degree in medical education
  • CCT date no later than August 2023 (2 years from date of commencing post)

Experience
Essential

  • Respiratory Medicine experience (minimum 4 years)

Desirable

  • Track record of high quality peer reviewed publications.
