Senior Vaccine Clinical Trials Paediatrician/Physician

This is an exciting opening for a paediatrician/adult physician to join the Oxford Vaccine Group, one of the world’s leading academic vaccine research teams, and take on a senior role in vaccine clinical trials, human challenge models, and vaccine development and evaluation, with opportunity for career progression in a stimulating academic environment at a thriving University. You will work with a team of senior colleagues at the Oxford Vaccine Group and in the recently launched Pandemic Sciences Institute. Clinicians who have completed their specialist training and can demonstrate their potential for an academic career in clinical research will be considered for this post as well as clinicians with demonstrable experienced as a clinical investigator. The appointment will include flexibility to allow the successful candidate to pursue clinical practice in their accredited specialty at consultant level.
The Oxford Vaccine Group led the rapid clinical development of vaccines against COVID-19 in the pandemic and has made major contributions to knowledge supporting national and global policy on immunisation over 3 decades. We undertake vaccine research spanning basic science and preclinical studies through to epidemiological studies, human challenge models and phase I-III clinical trials. The Oxford Vaccine Group is directed by Professor Sir Andrew Pollard, and research leads are Professor Teresa Lambe OBE, Professor Daniela Ferreira, Professor Maheshi Ramasamy, Professor Brian Angus, Dr Dominic Kelly, and Dr Rinn Song. Current research at the Oxford Vaccine Group includes research on vaccines for outbreak pathogens and pandemics, enteric pathogens, bacterial and viral respiratory infections, and use of human challenge models to accelerate vaccine development.
This post will be based at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE.
This post is full time and fixed term for 60 months, with the potential for extension subject to funding. There are two posts available.
