Can we tempt you to join our amazing multidisciplinary team? Our Junior Clinical Fellow posts are an ideal opportunity to work in a supportive clinical environment with dedicated non-clinical time for portfolio development.

The posts will have dedicated non-clinical time (20% of rota time) to develop a portfolio of your choice.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be part of a team of 13 junior doctors in a busy district general hospital Emergency Department (ED). You will work alongside nine middle grade doctors & eight consultants in a multi-disciplinary team including ENPs and ACPs providing front line care to an undifferentiated case mix. The successful applicant will participate in a full shift rota providing 24-hour shop floor cover. The department provides a consultant led service with ample opportunity for supervision. There is direct consultant shop floor cover approximately 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The post is available to start from 1st February 2023 for 6 months.

The ED at the Princess of Wales Hospital sees approximately 56,000 new patients per year. There is substantial exposure to the breadth of EM cases ranging from seriously ill or injured adults and children to minor injuries with ample opportunities to develop EM procedural skills. Our ED has a dedicated, dynamic and friendly multi-disciplinary team. This provides an excellent and supportive working environment.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 13 junior doctors, 9 middle tier doctors and 8 Consultants based in the ED at the Princess of Wales Hospital. The ED provides a consultant-led service with ample opportunity for supervision. There is direct consultant shop floor cover approximately 12 hours per day Monday to Friday and a minimum of 9 hours per day at weekends. In addition, we have an excellent team of highly able nurses, a newly expanded group of ENPs and 5 ANPs, with many cutting edge services being developed within the department. We have an excellent Occupational Therapist who works closely with the staff to facilitate discharge of the older patients. We have an ED Physiotherapist who runs 4 clinics per week to review patients with soft tissue injuries who require further assessment or investigation.
