Are you interested in joining a forward-looking enthusiastic suburban practice in a beautiful coastal location close to Newcastle city centre?  We are looking for 6 session GP partner(s) or Salaried GP to join our 3 existing GP partners (Helen, Reshmi and Sarah), due to the retirement of a partner pre-pandemic. We would welcome applications from GPs at any stage of their career including those returning to practice.

The clinical team consists of 3 GP partners. 10 salaried GPs, 2 Practice nurses, 3 Pharmacists, 4 HCAs, and 1 Pharmacy technician. We have used PCN funds to directly employ, a MH coordinator, Physician's associate and a Frailty and vulnerable patient team. Other PCN staff are attached,  including a Frailty Nurse for care homes, a Cancer care coordinator, and a First Contact physiotherapist.

The administration team are extremely friendly and well organised with many outstanding systems that reduce the workload for clinicians. We have in house hubs for post triage, medicines management, clinical indicator achievement and private work. The whole primary care team is stable and have strong relationships with each other and patients. We  have a strong focus on maintaining staff wellbeing by enhancing the working environment and spending time doing activities together outside work.  The practice has a programme of regular weekly meetings.

The practice prioritises training and hosts GPSTs, F2 doctors and 3rd and 5th year medical students and employs pharmacy students.

Our patients are respectful, and their feedback continues to be extremely positive about the service we offer. We do not operate personal lists but encourage continuity via our reception navigation systems and prioritise care for the most vulnerable patients. Our last CQC inspection was rated as good. We consistently achieve high QOF scores because of proactive and efficient LTC management system delivered by our nursing and pharmacy teams. The practice has above average remuneration.

The practice works from 2 purpose-built buildings, leased from a PFI and looks after 14000 patients. We have a low number of visits and a compact practice area. The area employs Paramedics and ENPs who also perform home visits.

The GP partners are active within the PCN and LMC, and have roles in training, appraising, coaching, minor surgery,  and sexual health.
Becoming a GP partner or joining a new practice can seem daunting, it is a gradual process and support will be offered during the first 2 years, including mentorship from the existing partners and leadership training and career coaching from local organisations. We want to develop our teams’ strengths and interests, so we will support your ambitions to develop special interests within your career.

Please contact us to discuss if you would prefer to work more or less than 6 sessions. The start date is flexible.

We would encourage informal meetings or visits to meet the team and find out more about the role.

Please contact Jo Houghton (Strategic and Business manager)- email joannehoughton@nhs.net or Dr Helen Coundon helen.coundon@nhs.net or by clicking the apply button.

Applications by CV and letter of application by Saturday 31st December 2022.
