Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful candidate will join the existing Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the Princess of Wales Hospital. The post will have a labour ward on call commitment of 1:9.This post will join the team of consultants responsible for the provision of Obstetrics and Gynaecology services to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The Post will be based at Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, but may also be required to undertake sessions across other sites. The post will be required to share with Consultant colleagues the responsibility of providing antenatal and gynaecology outpatient and inpatient care for the local population and in doing so foster excellent working relationships within and outside the department. The Obstetricians/Gynaecologists in our department are extremely supportive and have a successful track record of facilitating the SAS/Specialty Doctor's to progress to CESR. the successful candidate would also be working alongside a fantastic and welcoming team of admin staff, nurses, midwives and trainee doctors.

Main duties of the job

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR UPTO 6 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE

The role would offer regular theatre sessions, outpatient clinics and on call duties. There may also be opportunity to participate in teaching, governance and cancer MDT meetings.

Qualifications
Essential

  • MBBCh/MBBS/equivalent
  • MRCOG Part 1 and Part 2 written

Desirable

  • Currently undertaking or completed ATSM

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

  • At least 4 years' experience in approved Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Experience of working in Obstetrics & Gynaecology posts in the UK
  • Experience in all aspects of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Desirable

  • Experience in ultrasonography

Skills
Essential

  • Proven ability in managing high risk pregnancies, fetal assessment and pre-natal diagnosis
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team
