Job Details

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is looking to appoint two Consultant Adult Psychiatrists to cover Anglesey, North Wales.

These are replacement posts in the North and South Anglesey areas.

You will be based with the CMHT and work with the integrated/single line team manager to ensure clinical leadership of the multi-disciplinary team.

You are required to be on the Specialist Register, have CCT or recognised equivalent, or be within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job

You will work collaboratively with the Acute Care Services (inpatient) and Home Treatment Team (HTT)).

You will be responsible for the longer term planning and provision of section 117 aftercare arrangements and the provision of suitable reports for Mental Health Act appeals.

You will provide consultation and supervision for Primary Mental Health Services in either the North or South Anglesey catchment areas.

You will be expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. This is a Welsh statutory law and aims to give patients the right to a high standard of care.

Consultants are expected to take part in Clinical Governance activities and participate in the Health Board's appraisal process as well as provide Specialist Training for trainees on the North Wales rotation of the Welsh Deanery Training Program for Psychiatry.

There is a 1:13 on call rota for consultants (Tier 3), which attracts 1 Additional Session and Intensity Band 1 payment and covers the West area.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Welsh AC Approval.
Eligibility
Essential
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT.
  • Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Teaching & Training
Essential
  • Evidence of having delivered postgraduate teaching.
Desirable
  • Experience of teaching medical students.
Clinical Skills
Essential
  • Evidence of training in the core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry.
Desirable
  • Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team.
