We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, focused and forward-thinking Specialty Doctors or Senior Clinical Fellows to join our dynamic and highly supportive Emergency Department based in Glangwili General Hospital.

This post is suitable for those who would like to develop their careers either as a Non Consultant Career Grade or who wish to consolidate their experience before moving on to other senior roles.

To participate in providing a service for Emergency Medicine to the hospital and community so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness with your Consultant.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty To participate, sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board's service plans Core clinical expertise in undertaking routine diagnostic procedures and assessment of patients .Experience and knowledge of contributing to a sub-specialty service Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams Addressing the Intermediate care Agenda Participating persuasive strategic advice to LHBs and Social Services departments You are expected to maintain your professional development for Revalidation A Teaching and Training Role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates Supervisor role to Junior Medical Staff where appropriate

To undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence based medicine

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.   • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
  • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

 

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to practice
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • ATLS
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent), at least 2 of which in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty Or as fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty OR MBBS or recognised equivalent

Desirable

  • MRCP 2 level, paces pending or full membership MRCP

Clinical Experience
Essential

  • Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
  • Broad based experience in General Medicine
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
  • Experience of assessment of emergencies
  • Able to apply knowledge

Desirable

  • Experience of NHS
  • Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service
  • Evidence of above average performance
  • Additional clinical qualification(s)

Clinical Governance
Essential

  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
  • Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance

Desirable

  • Knowledge of risk management
