Job Details

Applications are invited for a 10PA Locum Consultant in Paediatric Haematology, or Oncologist/Paediatrician with an interest in Haematology at Nottingham University Hospitals.  The post will involve malignant, benign and laboratory haematology.

Our East Midlands Children’s and Young Person’s Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) is a two site principle treatment centre for malignant haematology based across Nottingham and Leicester and takes approximately 140 new malignant patients each year.  The post is Nottingham based, but with links via a shared MDT.  Nottingham University Hospital Trust is commissioned as a Specialist Haemoglobinopathies Team (SHT) and is part of the East Midlands Sickle and Thalassemia network (EMSTN).  We are also a regional referral centre for bleeding disorders.  Our inpatient unit houses a teenage cancer trust area, adjacent daycare facilities with a theatre room and access to paediatric intensive care on the same corridor.

The successful applicant will become part of a friendly and collaborative team of 7 consultant haematologists and oncologists.  We have strong links with the University of Nottingham, with two team members having academic appointments.  There are currently 3 consultants covering the haematology service with one lead each for leukaemia, haemostasis and red cell disorders.  Nottingham and the surrounding area is a beautiful place to live with outstanding nearby schools and excellent transport links to other major cities.

Company

Choose Nottingham

Voted as one of the Sunday Times Best Places to live, our city and the region are one of the big reasons why a career at NUH is the right choice for so many.

The city has been named in the top ten places to bring up a family and the top UK city to make your salary stretch further. Whilst you’re probably already familiar with Robin Hood (and yes, there is still a castle and a Sherriff), there is so much more to Nottingham than its legends. There’s rich culture on every corner with something for all tastes and a thriving independent restaurant and shopping sector

The three campuses of Nottingham University Hospitals are based in and around the city centre with direct access to all of the amenities and attractions. 25% of Nottingham is made up of green spaces and parks but within a short journey you can be in the spectacular surrounding countryside of the Peak District, Sherwood Forest, Rutland Water and the Lincolnshire coast.
