Job Details

Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time (10 PAs) Consultant in West CMHT, Leeds. This post is community based.

The post holder will work with the team to develop a therapeutic and holistic model based on psychological formulation, safety planning, risk management and trauma informed care that can then facilitate community based treatment and minimise hospital admission. The postholder will provide expert advice and consultancy, supported by the MDT, which will positively influence change in the current system of CMHT with a positive impact on hospital admission and home based treatment.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with the community team, in liaison with the inpatient and intensive support service when applicable, to facilitate effective and therapeutic transitions and discharge plans back into the community. There is no inpatient work.

Duties will be in line with those of a Consultant Psychiatrist in a community setting. The post holder will be responsible, alongside the MDT for assessment and management of referrals accepted by the CMHT of those with mood and psychotic disorders, trauma based presentations and personality disorder. Given the nature of the work, there will be responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act (CTOs) including representation at tribunal hearings and assessing consent to treatment.

There will be a requirement for significant liaison with colleagues to facilitate transitions, planning care and discharge.
